Abstract

Family conflicts have an important influence on children's socialization, emotional development, personality development and socialization. The aim of this study is to explore the causes and effects of conflicts in the family and to see how they affect the socialization of children from an Islamic perspective and in the context of modern psychology. The first looks at the part that parents play; home environment and its effects on children; psychosocial development stages of the child; the impact of socioeconomic pressures, communication issues, parenting styles and intergenerational differences on the dynamics of the family. The study is analytical and literature-based with emphasis on Islamic teachings from the Qur'an, the Sunnah and modern analyses such as: Family Systems Theory, Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory, and Erikson's Theory of Psychosocial Development. The study points out that continuing family disputes puts children under stress that impacts upon their emotional security, social competence, emotional regulation, and prosocial behavior and that a positive home environment, good parent involvement, and healthy communication have a positive impact on children's social and moral development. Muslim doctrines pay a great deal of attention to the binding of the family, the respect among members, justice, compassion, care of parents and the significance of maintaining family relationships in a well-fixed family structure. The study concludes that there is a holistic need to combine the Islamic moral values with the modern insights derived from psychology, as it can be a holistic guide of how to reduce any conflicts within the family and develop the social activities of children from the family viewpoint on Pakistani environment or setting in a sociocultural context.
