Abstract

In the Islamic educational tradition, knowledge is not merely the acquisition of information; it is a moral, spiritual, and civilizational trust. The principle of "Adab before Knowledge" serves as the foundation of Islamic education, emphasizing the student's ethical formation alongside intellectual growth. This paper examines the concept of Adab in Islamic perspectives, its educational significance, and its relevance in the face of modern challenges The Quran and Sunnah link knowledge with the fear of Allah, humility, and responsibility. Islamic tradition teaches that true knowledge is that which fosters moral consciousness and practical accountability. The lives of the Prophet (PBUH) and the scholars reflect that Adab whether toward teachers, the ethical use of knowledge, or social responsibility is essential before and during the pursuit of learning. Classical Islamic curricula always prioritized self-purification (Tazkiyah) and the etiquette of seeking knowledge. In the contemporary era, as education shifts toward digitalization and AI-based systems, ethical training is often neglected. Detaching knowledge from values results in individuals who may be technically proficient but lack social responsibility and moral guidance. This paper critically analyzes this trend and emphasizes the need to restore the link between knowledge and Adab. The research concludes that the true goal of Islamic education is the formation of a virtuous, humble, and responsible human being. Integrating the Islamic concept of Adab into modern systems is not just an intellectual necessity but a civilizational requirement to harmonize education with wisdom and humanity
