Abstract

Industrial investment plays a vital role in promoting economic development, creating employment opportunities, increasing exports, and strengthening the productive capacity of a country. However, declining industrial investment can adversely affect economic activities, employment generation, production, and overall national development. This article examines the major causes and factors responsible for the decline in industrial investment, with particular attention to political and economic instability, inconsistent government policies, energy shortages, high production costs, increased taxation, rising interest rates, inadequate infrastructure, administrative complexities, and uncertainty faced by investors. The article also highlights financial constraints, limited access to modern technology, shortage of skilled labour, and fluctuations in market demand as important barriers to industrial investment. These factors collectively reduce investor confidence and discourage both domestic and foreign investment in productive industrial activities. The study emphasizes that sustainable growth in industrial investment requires political stability, consistent and investor-friendly policies, reliable energy supplies, improved infrastructure, accessible financial facilities, skilled human resources, and an efficient administrative system. Effective reforms in these areas can strengthen the industrial sector, enhance investor confidence, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to sustainable economic development. The article concludes that addressing structural and policy-related barriers is essential for creating a favorable environment for industrial investment and long-term economic progress.
