Abstract

This article presents an analytical study of youth character development and the countering of hatred in the light of Islamic moral teachings. The research emphasizes that youth play a pivotal role in shaping the future of any society, and their psychological, social, and moral development is essential for producing responsible, balanced, and conscientious individuals. Islamic ethical principles, as articulated in the Qur’an and Hadith, promote virtues such as patience, forgiveness, justice, empathy, and mutual respect, which are instrumental in guiding young people toward positive behavior and social harmony. The study examines three main aspects: first, the general character development of youth, highlighting the influence of family, educational institutions, peers, and media on their moral and psychological growth. Second, it explores the mechanisms through which Islamic moral teachings help prevent the emergence of hatred, prejudice, and aggressive behaviors. This includes the role of moral training, social sensitivity, tolerance, peer influence, digital and media literacy, and spiritual purification (tazkiyah). Third, the article presents research findings indicating that structured guidance, ethical education, and conscious application of Islamic principles significantly reduce tendencies toward hatred and promote constructive social engagement among youth. Psychological insights, notably from experts like Erik Erikson, G. Stanley Hall, and Dr. Abdul Hamid Abid, reinforce the importance of emotional regulation, critical thinking, and moral reinforcement in character formation. Ultimately, the study underscores that the integration of Islamic ethical education into familial, educational, and societal frameworks provides a comprehensive approach to nurturing youth who are emotionally balanced, morally upright, and socially responsible. Such an approach not only strengthens individual character but also serves as a preventive measure against social discord, intolerance, and hatred, fostering a harmonious and resilient community.
